I am sad to hear of Betty’s passing. Although I did not get the pleasure of meeting Betty, we did have phone conversations about the historical Nelligan and I have enjoyed reading her book collections. I last spoke to her earlier this year and as it happened it was her birthday. I am a great granddaughter of Robert and Bridget (née Gilligan) Fitzgerald. My grandmother was Margaret “Maggie” Fitzgerald. My mother was Phil Dornan, who as a child attended Nelligan school. I know the Heycox and Fitzgerald families are united through the late Annie Heycox and Charlie Fitzgerald.

May you Rest In Peace, Betty. You won’t be bored up there as you will have plenty of people to talk about the history of Nelligan with!

Sincere condolences to the family on the passing of Betty. We used to come over to the Nelligen Hall to see her every Christmas to get our New Years Eve dressup. It was always good to have a chat to her and her daughters and she always got a good laugh out of us working out what might be our funny theme each year and trying on our selected outfits. We will miss seeing your smiling face every Christmas. Love from the Girls from the Caravan Park, New Years Eve Dressup Gang, Alaine, Briony, Raegan & Lea-Anne.
